Communication Taught through Acting-LASACT WORKSHOP

One of the biggest skills achieved through studying the craft of acting is active listening and effective communication. These skills are applicable to many different career paths and being intentional in improving in these areas are guaranteed to bring every professional to a new level of success in their chosen career path.

Here at Love Acting, we have come to recognize direct correlations between the skills emphasized through the craft of acting and the skills necessary for the counseling career path. Acting heavily depends on the study of human behavior, the dynamic of relationships and its effect on individuals’ life choices and thought patterns, and the ability to actively listen and effectively communicate in a quick moment.

All of these skills are crucial to counselors and specifically those in the area of substance abuse and addiction counseling.

Substance abuse/ addiction counselors rely on their ability to:

assess the situation through communicating with their client,

quickly de-escalate a situation and evaluate their client’s immediate needs,

and provide their client with the emotional support and tools to continue through their daily lives as safely and heathily as possible.

Love Acting and LASACT have combined forces to provide a workshop that applies the techniques of acting to support substance abuse/ addiction counselors in their client/ counselor relationships.

We are excited to support our local community in bringing this resource to continue innovating new ways to further the education of substance abuse/ addiction counselors in Louisiana.
